New Members: Carol Hommick and Rose Strawn.
The Sept. 22, 2008 meeting began
with the praying of the rosary @ 6:30 pm, followed by the meeting and
meal.
Since the minutes of the
previous meeting were e-mailed to all members, they were approved as sent, and
not read. We welcomed our newest
members, Carol Hommick and Rose Strawn.
Mary Stumm
began by reading the prayer of Our Lady Of Good Counsel, that Marylou Bishop and Jo Anne Burch
received at the AACCW Convention. It was
moved and seconded, that we begin all our future meetings by saying this
prayer.
Mary also thanked everyone who
helped with the funeral brunches the past month, and suggested that we form a
committee for the future. Everyone
agreed, and a sign-up sheet was circulated for volunteers who could purchase
food, cook a dish, or serve & clean-up.
Many thanks to everyone who
volunteered for Paulding Meadows, and to everyone who
sold raffle tickets for Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Auxiliary.
Kathi Ryan reported on the current balances of our checking
and savings accounts, along with expenses paid for the previous month.
Marylou Bishop and Jo Anne Burch
spoke about their experiences at the AACCW Convention, which was held
Sept. 5th - 7th, 2008.
The president of the AACCW, Joan Brown, is the mom of our parishioner,
Randy Brown. Both, Marylou and Jo Anne,
agreed that it was a very rewarding and spiritually uplifting event. There were many new items presented, one of
which is that parishes will now be organized into DISTRICTS, rather than
Deaneries - making St. Vincent part of the NW District. Also, there will be a delegation going to the
Millidgeville State Mental Hospital on Oct. 20th. Donations of toiletries, snacks, t-shirts,
and ball caps are needed. Each district is being asked to provided these items, along with volunteers to help with a
party for the patients. Marylou will
arrange an Ambo Announcement, so that the entire church can be involved.
The suggestion to have a
fundraiser, to send more delegates to future conventions, was tabled until we
can determine if we are meeting our current responsibilities with the
fund-raisers already scheduled.
The Guild will host the NW
District meeting on February 21, 2009, from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. More info. will be available at future meetings. Marylou will ask Fr. Adrian if he would be
the guest-speaker.
The by-laws presented at the
convention were given to the Guild’s By-Laws Committee, whose members
are Kathy Kiefer, DJ Andrus, Marylou Bishop, and Pat Hesse. They will evaluate them and make suggestions
as to which ones should be adopted by the Guild.
REMINDER: Fall Festival is Sept. 28th.
E-mail reminders will be sent to those who volunteered to bake cakes
for the Cake-Walk, and to those who volunteered to monitor the
cakes. Cyndi Babecka
volunteered to do face-painting.
REMINDER: Confirmation is Oct. 19th at the 5:00 pm mass. Ann Schumacher will bring the Guild’s
tablecloths on Sunday. E-mail reminders
will be sent to those who volunteered to help.
The Guild will attend mass as a
group on Saturday, Oct. 25th at the 4:00 pm mass, and on Sunday,
Oct. 26th at the 10:30 am mass.
A front pew will be reserved so that Guild members who attend those
masses can sit together.
DJ Andrus reminded us that the St.
Vincent de Paul Society’s Uplift Project is also selling raffle tickets for
the Quilt, along with coffee mugs.
Margo Hagan gave an update on the
status of the Christmas Market, and reminded everyone that the next
craft day will be Tues., Sept. 23rd.
We will be selling Advent Calendars to parishioners 2 weeks before the
Christmas Market. The final craft night
meeting will be Oct. 6th.
Those who have items to sell should bring a sampling, so that a plan for
set-up & presentation can be made.
We will table discussion about the
December retreat to Ignatius House until the next meeting, when Nancy
McDermott can give us more information.
Mary Speeney
thanked the Guild members who donated toiletries to our Food Pantry.
Shannon Robinson suggested the
Guild form a committee of church members to make layettes to assist
those in need, through the St. Vincent de Paul Society. The Guild will follow-up after the Christmas
Holidays.
The next Tea Date is
Thursday, Oct. 9th at Azalea House.
Please call DJ Andrus if you would like to attend.
More people signed up for refreshments,
so that more than one person will provide main, side or dessert dishes.
The meeting was adjourned
at 8:53 pm.
Respectfully submitted: Marguerite
