New Members: Lynn Powers
The Oct. 20,
2008 meeting began with the praying of the rosary @ 6:30 pm, followed by
the meeting and a lovely meal.
Since the minutes
of the previous meeting were e-mailed to all members, they were approved as
sent, and not read.
We welcomed our
newest member, Lynn Powers.
Mary Stumm began by reading the prayer of Our Lady Of Good Counsel.
Lori Hall asked that a copy be given to all members, so we could have it
for future meetings. All agreed;
Marguerite will copy or e-mail to all.
Mary thanked everyone
who helped with the Arbor Day clean-up of the church, church grounds, and
especially the kitchen & pantry. She
also thanked all who helped with Confirmation, and the Fall Festival. The Cake Walk was a great success.
Many thanks to
everyone who registered participants for The Day Of
Reflection to be held Oct. 25th.
The Carmelites will lead the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and the
Guild will provide a light breakfast of mini bagels, muffins, juice and coffee,
along with a lunch of sandwiches, side dishes, and soup. A sign-up sheet for volunteers to provide the
side dishes, serve, and clean-up was circulated. All food should be at the church by 10:30 am
on Saturday.
The Guild
masses will be Oct. 25th at the 4:00 pm mass, and Oct. 26th
at the 10:30 am mass. All members who
attend these masses should sit as a group, in the front pews, during mass.
Marylou Bishop
& Jo Anne Burch reported that the event at Millridge
State Hospital was cancelled. We
agreed to start collecting items early, for next
year’s event.
Nancy McDermott
distributed flyers, and explained how a retreat at Ignatius House works. The week-end of Dec. 12th through
14th is reserved for parishioners of St.Vincent
de Paul Church, but anyone can go at any time that is best for them. A priest from Ignatius House will come to St.
Vincent’s in November, to provide more information.
Becky Mitek reported on the progress of the Christmas Market,
to be held Nov. 14th & 15th in the Social Hall. Sign-up sheets were circulated for volunteers
to work during the Market. Items for
sale will be displayed in front of the church both week-ends before the
event. Orders for personalized items
will be taken at this time. Also,
members volunteered to call all parishioners regarding the need for baked goods
for the event. Jo Anne Burch will
forward Margo’s e-mail regarding the procedure everyone should follow, when
labeling their items for sale. Mary Speeney announced that the Advent Calendars, and other
items ordered through Angels Closet, for the market, had arrived. Jo Anne Burch reported that the quilt for the
Uplift Project was now being made. Margo Hagan will notify everyone, of the
schedule for setting up the items, etc., at a later date.
Since Kathi Ryan was absent, Mary Stumm
gave the treasurer’s report.
Mary also
thanked Lucille Hoffman for donating several red tablecloths,
and Martha Vahanian for donating 6 large white
tablecloths, all of which will be used for Guild functions.
The Knights Of Columbus are sponsoring a pancake breakfast-blood
drive this Sunday, Oct. 26th.
The meeting was adjourned
at 9:05 pm.

submitted: Marguerite R. Avery
